Cancer survivor story

Surviving colon cancer is a very challenging situation. Colon cancer is the silent killer of men and woman throughout the world. I had stage 3 colon cancer and the survival story that you are reading now is what I believe that led up to me developing the colon cancer.

I really thought that once we had got to the church camp that everything would be okay and the harassment would stop. Well, just like all my decisions in life up to this point that thought was wrong as well! If anything, the harassment got worse. After we had settled in and got our beds and assigned areas; the torment began. Without warning, without hardly any relief. I would wake up in the mornings time after time with toilet paper wrapped around me, with dirty socks and underwear on top of me and one time someone had placed a pair of dirty socks in my mouth.

Again things began to feel like an eternity that would not come to an end. I knew that this wouldn't last long so I kept hoping it would go fast but it didn't. I did my best to focus on home. Getting home alive was my main goal. I was further humiliated because I refused to shower with the other boys and Youth Pastor became upset and made me shower with them. Well, when they saw me naked I was humiliated even more! They said my chest looked like girls boobies and that I had a smaller manhood compared to the others..

Someone must have complained to the Youth Pastor, because he came into the shower room and broke it up. I was surprised that he didn't join in on the fun. He finally agreed to let me shower by myself. As an adult or young person reading this story, can you realize the emotional and mental harm that was being done to a child? No child should ever have to face humiliation! I truly feel sorry for the children who are abused, sexually abused and the like. I thank God that I was never sexually abused because Id probably be in the mental ward.

Anyway being at the camp was a nightmare, I mean now that I realize it I have learnt a lot of valuable insights on what not  to do and what signs to watch out for. I mean the signs that a child is being abused mentally or emotionally! Some are:

Becoming very irritable

Becoming less interested in activities

Seeming sad or gloomy

Seeming more introverted

Receiving bad grades, especially when they were good

Blaming things on other people or God

Hating God even if they say they were joking that is still a sign

Drawing evil looking images

These are some of what I experienced and hopefully will help you to identify any in your child!
